Russia WW2

Information Russia WW2: Russia (also known as the Soviet Union, or USSR) played a major part in WW2. With a population of over 190 million in 1939 and an army of approximately 3 million soldiers, Russia entered the war as one of the major powers in a supporting role (WW2 Summary).

The non-aggression pact between Russia and Germany allowed the Soviets to expand their military sphere of influence without repercussions from the Deutschen Reich. However, this situation changed abruptly when the German army marched during WW2 onto Russian soil. Suddenly, Russia found her former ally was now her invading enemy (WW2 Timeline).
